Based on the true story of John Davidson, I Swear follows a young Scottish boy growing up with Tourette syndrome at a time when the condition was widely misunderstood. As John faces prejudice, isolation and misunderstanding, he gradually finds strength in the people who believe in him and becomes an important voice for awareness and acceptance.
This is a moving, honest and often unexpectedly funny film about neurodiversity, empathy and dignity.
Note: the film is certified 15 in the UK and contains very strong language connected to the protagonist’s Tourette symptoms.
